Szczecin Philharmonic Hall

The building of the Szczecin Philharmonic Hall has been acclaimed among the most interesting recent investments and has become a landmark of the city, region and the whole country. The design has been awarded in many contests and won the Mies van der Rohe Award in 2015. It will certainly mark its presence in the history of global architecture.

The structure of the building stands out by its lightweight form and perfectly matches the Neo-Gothic style of the adjacent buildings. The functional programme of the building is wide – it features concert halls, rehearsal rooms, dressing rooms, offices as well as representative and service areas. That is why non-standard divisions have been implemented. One of the major tasks for ASSA ABLOY Mercor Doors was to make doors leading to the symphonic orchestra room which had to meet stringent acoustic requirements, facilitate evacuation of almost 1000 people and match the interior design. The construction of DREW AKUSTIK GT door, providing the door leaf with a double rabbet and adding two drop-down seals helped to achieve the sound insulation index of Rw=45dB. In many areas the door leaves have been made thicker to be aligned with the door frame surface opposite the hinges.
